Here in Arizona, families have the ability to choose among district and charter public schools, where they feel their children will get the best education. Charter schools are open-enrollment, tuition-free, public schools that operate based on a contract with their authorizer. Ball Charter Schools provides parents and students an alternative to traditional public school systems. We have high expectations and standards that value the school-home partnership as essential for student success.
Open Enrollment is the period prior to the start of each school year when parents/guardians can complete an application for each child to their desired school(s). Open enrollment dates for the upcoming school year will be November 9, 2020- January 22, 2021. At the end of the open enrollment period, a lottery will take place for grade levels, as needed. After the lottery, applications received will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
An enrollment application may be completed online here. Once accepted, families will receive a digital invitation to complete the registration process. During this process, families will be asked to upload a birth certificate (original or certified copy), proof of residency, and proof of immunizations.
Ball Charter Schools may limit admissions based on age group or grade level, but will not limit admission based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, income level, disabling condition, or proficiency in English.
Entry of eligible students into any Ball Charter School is based on space availability. Preference for any available openings will be given to returning students and siblings of students currently enrolled at Ball Charter Schools and the children of staff and Board members.
I have been honored over the past five years to serve as the principal at Dobson Academy K-8 and look forward to continuing the work we will engage in these next few years.
We partner in creating a sense of community and develop positive relationships with our students and families. Our school has a reputation for innovation, creativity, dedication, and excellence. We have a highly qualified and progressive teaching staff that is committed to providing our students with relevant and rigorous instruction using a research-based curriculum. I believe we have some of the most talented teachers in the state. We work hard to reach each child academically as well as socially and emotionally.
Dobson Academy School has a very supportive and involved parent community. We believe that a strong partnership between our school, each classroom, and home is critical to student and school success. We encourage and invite you to participate and volunteer in our school. Without the support and involvement of parents and families, we would not be able to achieve our dreams. Working together enhances the caring school environment that makes our school so special.
As an educator for 28 years, I have experience and firsthand knowledge of the change in public education from brick and mortar, online learning, and charter schools at a site level to a national level, and where accountability has been increased to its peak for student learning. I enjoy and believe in a collaborative and data-driven model where students and teachers are provided the opportunity and take ownership of growth.
I have 14 years of experience in Secondary Education, Biological Sciences as a classroom teacher and 13 years of site administration as Teacher on Assignment, Assistant Principal and Principal of a K-8 elementary school in both public district and charter schools. My degrees consist of B.A. in Secondary Education, M.A. in Secondary Education, Certifications for K-12 Principal and Superintendent, and an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership.
I am excited to partner with you to create the best possible experience. Our website will give you up to date information about our wonderful school.
